Got myself a 3D printer. Time to make all sorts of things.
Gonna try making a new center console trim piece for the Vette.
BRING ON THE THIRD DIMENSION !

Ooo, a Creality Ender 3! That’s the printer I want to get! Is it the Pro model, or the normal one? Let us know how it works as I’ll be watching closely on this one! :D

I have the CR-10S Pro and I love it!

It is the normal one. They are all on sale and this one is the cheapest. I though about the pro and the V2, but for even the small money to upgrade, the upgrades didn’t seem worth it to me. I will keep ya’ll posted.

Did you get it from the Woot sale?

I forget if the normal one comes with a heated build plate, but of the upgraded ones do, it would’ve been worth it as then you could print in other materials easily like ABS, say. I’ve got a lot of experience with 3D printing in the past, though not with the Ender series!
If you want some basic software to learn some 3D modelling on, I can recommend Sketchup and TinkerCAD until you try a full-on CAD program! Also, check out Thingiverse...a LOT of stuff there that’s really neat and you may even find Corvette stuff there already?

That’s the more-expensive-than-the-Ender one isn’t it?

Welcome to the club!

A bit, but I don't think it was outrageously more, maybe $100 extra? Honestly the Ender is great, the 10-S just gives a bit more build volume.

My son bought one a week or so ago. He named it Ralph.

Base one comes with the heated plate. Ordered a bunch of filaments and a glass plate off Amazon for less than getting it from upgrading .

Nice

I'm hoping to buy a 3D printer before the end of the year.

Is fun so far

I used a MakerBot Replicator 2 during my masters. It was a pretty neat machine. It'll be interesting to see how much better/cheaper things have gotten in the last 6 years.

I’d like to try printing some black center caps for my Toyota’s steel wheels. I bought a 3D printer kit last year but I hit a snag when trying to assemble it.

This cost me $176

What happened?

Very nice! I built a 3D printer ~2013 (no such thing as buying one at that point anyway) and still have it, doesn’t get much use but it’s pretty handy when it does.

Is that an Ender 3 Pro or just a regular 3?
I’ve got an Ender 5 Plus (that I need to re-level AGAIN), and I’ve got a CR -6 SE on the way too. Why? I’m an idiot.

I mean I bought the parts, assembly was required, but I know what you meant.

Regular 3. The “upgrades” for the pro wasn’t really anything I saw as truly beneficial .

I was having difficulty with getting the rods installed. It seemed one of them was too long. I thought that I have just the solution. My brother has a lathe. I’ll get him to part off a bit on the end so it all would fit. Wouldn’t you know it, but the rods are VERY hard and his tool couldn’t get any purchase on the surface. He kept pushing the tool into the rod until he bent it. So now the table won’t run true. I wrote the manufacturer (Amazon seller) a couple times about getting a replacement, but they never responded.
It turned out that it never needed to be shortened. I just didn’t whack it hard enough to seat properly. Doh!

Ah that sucks

I strugg led with that too. But then they released the CR-6 SE so I decided to get that.
But a cheap and easy upgrade on your 3 is the silent main board. Having a quiet machine is absolutely worth it.

We’ll see. It is fin for now, mostly just fan noise.
